News by #FutureLeadersForum in Trends & Insights | Advanced Technologies
In an online discussion on 14 March 2022 as part of the FLF Conversations series of the ICMCI Future Leaders Forum, Aurelia Costache, EY Partner and Intelligent Automation Leader for the EMEIA region which covers Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa, shared insights into how transformation and intelligent automation impact clients and the evolving role of consultants in the changing market. The event was facilitated by Adelwyn Holder CMC, member of the Future Leaders Forum.
Aurelia Costache delved into the specifics of intelligent automation (IA) as a combination of technological and business methods involving people, organizations, business process management (BPM), robotic process automation (RPA), and advanced technologies involving machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Intelligent Automation aims to automate end-to-end business processes to deliver meaningful outcomes and results for organizations and their customers through timely, cost-effective, and higher quality services. IA is also meant to streamline and improve decision-making processes, automate repetitive low value tasks, and free up valuable internal resources to focus on the activities which people do best.
Aurelia Costache emphasised that in a world in which the embedding of automation in everything is becoming the norm, consultants have an important role to play in educating the market and identifying the benefits for customers. Beyond the classical quantitative benefits such as cost and time savings, intelligent automation brings in a wide range of qualitative benefits such as deep and powerful improvements in the quality and use of data within organisations; reductions to operational and legal risks; and customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
To make intelligent automation a success, it is critical for consultants and organisations to adopt a learning attitude and to link business transformation to strategy cascading down to automation. New technologies are not about doing the same things differently but about doing new things with new capabilities thereby adding much more value.
New technologies offer businesses many possibilities to improve their operating models and engage in value creating activities. Consultants need to seek to improve their knowledge and understanding of these systems as there are opportunities for them to work with clients in designing and managing the changes.
